Protective Film Sourcing from China to Vietnam: Lead Times, MOQ, Samples and What to Ask Your Supplier
For electronics and aluminum-profile factories in Vietnam: how to buy protective film from China without surprises on lead time, quality or paperwork.

Vietnam's electronics assembly and aluminum extrusion clusters keep growing, and more buyers are sourcing surface protection materials from China. Distance is short, but the details decide whether a shipment is smooth or painful. This note covers what our Vietnamese customers ask us most often.
**Lead times.** Standard grades usually leave our plant within 7–15 days after order confirmation; custom formulations, special widths or printed film need more time because they require a dedicated coating run. Sea freight to Haiphong or Cat Lai is short, but always plan around production slots during peak season rather than assuming stock availability.
**MOQ.** For stock grades, minimum order quantities are typically defined per specification rather than per shipment — ask us for the exact figures for your width and thickness. For custom-developed grades, the MOQ reflects one coating run. If you are validating a new supplier, ask whether trial quantities can be arranged.
**Samples and trials.** We provide free sample rolls for line trials. To make the trial meaningful, tell us your substrate, its finish, your process steps after lamination, target dwell time and removal conditions. We will propose two or three adjacent adhesion grades so you can compare them side by side instead of testing one number at a time.
**Documentation.** For each shipment we can provide the packing list, commercial invoice and certificate of origin. Test reports for the production lot — peel strength before and after heat ageing, thickness, tensile strength and elongation — are available on request. Third-party testing (SGS / RoHS / REACH) can be arranged to match your customer's requirements.
**Quality consistency between lots.** The most common complaint about switching suppliers is batch-to-batch variation. Ask specifically: are batch records kept, is every lot tested, and can the results be sent with the shipment? We keep lot traceability so any roll can be traced back to its raw materials and test data.
**Questions worth asking any supplier.** Which test standard was the adhesion number measured under (GB/T 2792 or ASTM D3330)? At what peel speed and dwell time? Is there heat-ageing data, or only initial peel values? What happens if a lot fails on your line — who pays for the rework?
**Communication.** Our team responds to inquiries within 24 hours on working days, in English, Chinese and Vietnamese. Send your drawing, part photos or simply a description of what you protect today — that is usually enough for us to shortlist candidate grades.
**Getting started.** The fastest path is a small trial: pick two candidate models (for aluminum profiles start with GDY-025, GDY-033, GDY-047; for electronics start with GDY-024, GDY-011), run them on your actual parts for your real dwell time, and compare. We will ship samples free of charge and send the matching test report.
